Desconectados (Disconnected) is an original abstract mixed-media artwork exploring the fragility of human connection through the imagery of disconnected neuronal networks. Inspired by the complexity of the human brain, the piece reflects on the invisible connections that shape our relationships, memories, and sense of belonging.

Created using textured materials and acrylic paint, the artwork combines shades of grey and yellow, creating a contrast between disconnection and the possibility of connection. Its layered surfaces and fragmented forms evoke the experience of neurons unable to connect, while also reflecting on the isolation and disorientation experienced by people living with dementia.

Through its tactile textures and contrasting colours, Desconectados invites the viewer to reflect on memory, human relationships, and the delicate connections that make us who we are.
